BIP – Forestry in a drier world

The maximum number of participants from partner universities is 20. English proficiency at B2 level is required.

The program consists of an online component, followed by an onsite component in Spain from 1 to 5 May 2026.

Participants will take part in lectures, workshops, field excursions, forest site visits, and debates covering the following topics:

Online track (4 weeks; 4 seminars in May 2026): Introduction to Mediterranean Forestry and Natural Resources Management: Content:

  • Mediterranean Forest Systems: historical and environmental framework.
  • Silvics of Mediterranean tree species.
  • Forest landowners and other stakeholders
  • Forest and Natural Resources: economic and social perspectives. Ecosystem services.

In person track: seminars and fieldtrips (1 week; 1st week of June 2026) : Content:

  • Model forest network
  • Threats and climate change
  • New silvicultural approaches
